Once you have gotten your story concept down, it is time to use it to generate the story by using the three-act structure of storytelling. The three act structure, is a proven method of writing stories that provides a solid basis for creating a good story.

In a three act-structure, the story is broken into three main sections:

The first section will provide you with the setup of the story by introducing you to the main characters, their surroundings, and will establish the look and feel of the story. It is the status quo until the end of the act where an event happens which breaks away from the normal. This break away form the normal is called the catalyst.

The second part is where the buildup of the story tension occurs: the action, the conflicts, and the obstacles to overcome. During the middle of this act a turning point will occur creating a fresh direction for the story or a element of surprise. At the end of this act called the climax, the main character must confront and overcome their problems.

The last act of the story is the point of reckoning (the final confrontation and the point of resolution)and where all the loose-ends are tied-up.
